Breaking Strongholds …

Ever feel like your life is in some kind of “headlock”?  No matter what you seem to try nothing seems to change.  There are a couple of key things to look at when we are talking about thinking and trying to change something.

Are you free?

First lets start with the word try.  We all use it!  It is a word with defeat built into it.  One of the best lessons I was taught much later in life was about the word try.  Look around you right now.  See something you can pick up.  Look at it, but don’t touch it yet.  Have you got something?  Wait for it … Now try to pick it up!  No, No, No, don’t pick it up, Try to pick it up.  If you pick it up you have failed at trying to pick it up by actually picking it up.  You see it is do or don’t do, there is no try.  We need to do what it takes to succeed until it is done.  Trying is just an excuse for failure.  Do or don’t and move on.

Now let’s talk about the way we think.  Let’s see what the bible says about being in a headlock/stronghold over our life:

For the weapons of our warfare are not physical , but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds,  refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)

Strongholds come from the enemy.  They come from our past experiences, the way we were taught or treated, the way we think about ourselves and the way we think about others.  We don’t want to give the enemy even a foot hold in our mind, more or less put us into a headlock in our thinking.  We all have a past, present and thank God a future of our own design when we bring our thoughts in alignment with the promises of God over our life.  We do that is if we hold our thoughts and purpose captive.  Notice the we in that statement.  We rely on the Holy Spirit to help us direct our thoughts and keep us on purpose.

You see God’s word and truth will set us free from all attempts by the enemy to stop us or lock us down.  I have people question me all the time, Rick are you saying that the enemy is always attacking us and that we can blame all of our problems on him.  It is either the enemy within, your own thoughts and dwelling on challenges and failures.  Or, it is the enemy without patiently tearing you down and reminding you how you will never make it through.

Is it time to break some strongholds in your life?  Is it time to hold your thoughts captive?  Time to change the way you think and live and start to claim the life you are designed and destined to live?  If so then it is time to know the truth and the truth will set you free.  Take control of the thoughts in your mind and the actions of your heart and direct them to your being all of what God created you to be.  Let go and learn from the past.  Be fully present in your current moments.  Let your future unfold one day at a time by living the best you that you can be.  Let go and let God work in your life and see what happens.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing to Someone Today!

Rick
